I made scones today! I've had the recipe since Middle School, but haven't really made them in years. Never really had much counter space. But I wanted to give it a shot and I think they came out pretty good!

                    SCONES 400 degree oven |1 batch = 8 scones

                    1. Whisk the following together with a pastry blender to distribute the ingredients
                    2 cups flower
                    1/4 cup sugar
                    1 & 1/4 tsp baking powder
                    1/4 tsp baking soda
                    1/4 tsp salt

                    2. Blend into the flour mixture using the pastry blender until it looks like coarse crumbs
1/2 cup butter, cold and cut into small pieces

                    3. Add to the above mixture
1 cup cranberry mix (or in this case chocolate chips)
                    4. Mix together, and then add to the above mixture, just until the dough comes together.1
                    2/3 cup buttermilk
                    1 tsp vanilla

                    DO NOT OVERMIX THE DOUGH

                    5. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface

                    6. Knead the dough gently four or five times.

                    7. Pat into a 7 inch circle about 3/4 inch thick

                    8. Cut the circle in half, in half again and in half two more times to get 8 pieces.

                    9. Place Scones on the baking sheet. Then beat these two ingredients together
                    1 egg, lightly beaten
                    2 TBSP Milk

                    10. Brush over the tops of the scones
                    2 TBSP sugar
                    1/4 tsp cinnamon

                    11. Sprinkle the above mixture over the scones.
                    12. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
                    13. Remove from the oven and turn broiler on high
                    14. Sift Confectioners sugar over the tops and place them under the broiler for a few seconds until they turn golden brown.
